Ian Fang's victim, then-15, thought it was 'first love', now realises he 'used' her for sex
He tattooed her lip print on his shoulder and often sent her home.
Following former Mediacorp actor Ian Fang's conviction, where he was slapped with a 40-month jail sentence for having sex with a then-15-year-old girl, the victim has come forward to share more about the matter.
Speaking to 8world News through texts, the victim said she thought Fang was her "first love", but then realised that he just used her as "a tool to indulge in his desires".
Fang was 34 when the pair met at an entertainment event in May 2024.
At the time of the offences, Fang was an acting teacher at a child modelling school with students aged four to 14.
Thought it was first love
The girl shared that she had been chatting with Fang since they met in 2024 and called him "Teacher Fang".
She said she was "attracted" by his "maturity" and felt "safe" around him.
He gave her a "romantic feeling" and she thought it was "first love" and a crush, she shared.
While they never "confessed their love" or acknowledged their relationship to others, she described the relationship as "ambiguous".
Fang would take her for walks hand-in-hand, go to the supermarket together, and later cook for her.
However, they would wear sunglasses and masks when they go out together and avoid holding hands when there were many people around.
The mother said her daughter wore a mask and sunglasses around Fang, which made her feel famous at the time, as she was made to feel like there were paparazzi around who would take their photos together.
Every meeting ended with sex
While the girl had thought their relationship was borne out of romance, she later realised that he seemed to have "used" her as a "tool to indulge in his desires".
She said they would end up having sex each time they met.
The girl also said that if she could turn back time, she wished she had never met Fang.
"He made me fall from light to darkness," she said, expressing her hate for him.
Tattooed her lip print to his shoulder
The girl's mother also spoke to 8world, saying that she had questioned why her daughter was hanging out with Fang.
Her daughter reportedly told her that Fang was willing to run two blocks to buy a cup of bubble tea for her after class and would pick her up to send her home.
In addition, Fang had asked the girl to make a red lip print so that he could tattoo it on his shoulder.
Used his fame
The mother also said when her daughter went out to eat with Fang, she would see that he did not have to pay for meals.
This occurred as he would dine at places where the people there knew him.
The mother said: "My daughter thinks he is a celebrity and doesn't need to pay for meals."
Fang apparently also boasted about his fame, saying fans loved him.
He apparently claimed that many pieces of furniture at home and the clothes he wore were given to him for free.
One way Fang wooed the girl was to find out the food she likes and he would go to the supermarket to buy the frozen version, go home and cook it, and tell the girl that he prepared it specially for her.
Mother found out
On Aug. 3, 2024, the mother called the police after finding out that Fang had sex with her daughter.
After talking with her mother, the girl realised Fang's behaviour was wrong and became angry with herself.
It affected her emotionally and mentally, leading her to commit self-harm, she said.
She was also admitted to the Institute of Mental Health for treatment at one point.
Fang was arrested the next day after the police report and was granted bail, with instructions not to contact the girl.
However, he uploaded a picture of his red lip tattoo on social media on Sep. 1, as if to attract the girl's attention.
The accompanying caption read: "Tears flow before words."
The girl's mother said she thought that he was "just pretending to be pitiful and sad to gain sympathy" with his post.
Standing back up
While the girl is still struggling physically and mentally now, she said she is standing up bravely now to caution others.
"Fang Weijie is a big fall on my growth path. Since I fell, I will stand up bravely and will be a hundred times more cautious about people and relationships in the future," she said.
